Website management services

A website management retainer is day-to-day running and continual improvement of your site, guided by SEO and performance: new blogs, products, tweaks, and the sense-check that stops a good idea becoming a messy page.

01 / Audience

Who it is for

We sit as an extension of your team. You keep running the business; we take care of the website: the publishing, the SEO hygiene, the awkward questions from stakeholders, and the next useful improvement.

The work spans all sorts of industries. We currently manage the website of a large UK charity, a travel company ecommerce store, and a fire protection website, alongside others. Same shape of work: a live site, a publishing pile, search health, and a team you can actually reach.

01

Busy operators

You have a live site and a stack of “we should put that up” work: posts, products, pages, copy tweaks. You need it done properly, through an SEO lens, without it becoming your evenings.

02

Teams with a catalogue

New products, new articles, new landing pages. Someone has to format them, connect them, and make sure Search Console still looks healthy afterwards. That someone can be us.

03

People who need a point of contact

The biggest benefit is often a person who knows the site inside out, who can advise stakeholders, troubleshoot, and sense-check ideas before they hit the live homepage.

02 / Scope

What the retainer covers

Ongoing support for how the site actually runs, month to month. Publishing and improvement sit at the centre. Everything is done with SEO best practice and performance insight in mind, not as a separate SEO project bolted on later.

01

Content operations: uploading and formatting new blogs, pages, and products (headings, media, layout) so new work looks like it belongs on the site.

02

On-page SEO as we go: titles and meta descriptions, image alt text, and internal linking that helps people (and search) find the next useful page.

03

Search health: site crawls and Google Search Console checks for coverage, queries, and obvious errors, so problems surface before they become a traffic story.

04

Content opportunities from user intent and SEO gaps: what to write, what to expand, what to stop ignoring, based on how people already look for you.

05

Monthly performance reporting plus ongoing guidance on UX, SEO, and content: what moved, what we changed, and the next incremental improvement worth making.

06

Day-to-day care of the site as a system: troubleshooting, advising stakeholders, sense-checking new ideas, and liaising with developers when a change is bigger than a content job.

Backups, plugin and core updates, and design improvements are optional add-ons if you want the technical layer as well. They are not the product. We will say so, and scope them separately.

03 / Method

How it works

A cadence, a backlog, a monthly read-out.

You send work as it appears: a blog, a product, a “does this page still make sense?” We keep a short list of improvements from crawls and Search Console so the month is never only reactive.

Look

We learn the live site: structure, templates, how you publish, Search Console, and what “good” looks like for your audience. You get a plain picture of the work, not a pitch deck.

Agree

We set who can request content, typical turnaround, and what counts as retainer versus a developer job. Access stays limited to what the work needs.

Keep going

Day-to-day tasks run as they come in. Crawls, GSC health, linking and metadata improvements happen in the background. Each month you get a performance note: what we shipped, what we saw, what we recommend next.

04 / Why

Why work with us

A trusted point of contact who knows the website inside out.

We are a team led by Tom Crowe, a seasoned SEO and website expert. You get a personal relationship with the people doing the work, and a team behind him so a live site does not depend on one person’s evening. The shop is named for small tools that do one job well. This retainer is that job: the day-to-day of the site, done with enough SEO literacy to compound, and enough judgement to call a developer when a change is actually a build.

01

A personal relationship

You talk to people who know the site, not a rotating inbox. Enough familiarity to advise, enough continuity that you do not re-explain the homepage every month.

02

A shared project plan

We keep a live picture of the work: what is in, what is waiting, what is a developer job. You can see it. Nothing important lives only in someone’s head.

03

SEO as best practice

The team has deep SEO expertise, and we use it by doing the fundamentals well: titles, internal links, crawl health, content that matches how people search. The work happens through the site, not a separate SEO project bolted on later.

04

A trusted point of contact

One team to ask. Stakeholders get a sense-check. When the job is bigger than content, we say so and bring the right people in, including developers, instead of pretending a blog post will fix it.

If you want the longer version of who we are, that lives on About.

What people say

Five stars, no names. Comments about the retainer: publishing, search health, and having someone who actually knows the site.

Send the URL and what is currently stuck in the publishing pile. We will tell you whether a monthly retainer is the right shape, and whether any technical work belongs as an add-on.
